What is Shamanic Reiki?
When first introduced to Shamanic Reiki, we found the connection of Shamanism to nature and Mother Earth resonated deeply within us. It felt like a profound alignment with the natural world and its healing energies. Combining Shamanism with Reiki’s Universal Life Force energy brings a powerful synergy for healing and balance.
Shamanism like Reiki is an ancient healing tradition believed to be the oldest form of healing reaching back over 10,000 years. The word “shaman” originates from the Tungus tribe in Siberia. A Shaman is someone who travels or journeys into the spirit world or alternate realities to retrieve information for the betterment of individuals or their community. Reiki practitioners experience a similar type of expanded state, with focused attention and increased awareness of the body when channeling Reiki, making it a great foundation for shamanic work.
We know that becoming a Shaman isn’t something that can happen in a short period of time; it’s a lifelong journey. We do not claim to be Shamans, however Shamanism is innate within all of us. Our teachers and mentors imparted knowledge and techniques that are used in our Shamanic Reiki practice with permission from their indigenous teachers to share. We bring these teachings to meet the needs of people today, helping us return to balance, and reconnect with the oneness that we are all a part of.
Shamans called upon the essential forces of nature such as the winds, sacred plants, smoke, rocks, animals, fire, and rivers for healing. They call in helping spirits, exorcise harmful intrusions and balance energies through the vibration of drums, bells, rattles, movement, chanting and other methods. Many of these same tools are used in a Shamanic Reiki session to free congested or blocked energies. Shamanic tools that come from the earth; plants, flowers, or rocks carry the same powers as Mother Earth. Their connection to her living energy allows the use of this energy to be focused on the greater well-being of the receiver.
Both Shamanism and Reiki believe that negative experiences or traumas that we go through can disrupt our spirit and our soul causing it to fragment. This fragmentation can flow from our mental body down into our physical body where if not released is stored and can eventually cause mental or physical issues. In Shamanic Reiki there are several methods used to restore our spirit/soul to wholeness. Using shamanic journeys working with the elements, our intuition, our Shamanic Reiki spirit guides, or one of the many Shamanic tools, we can help resolve resistant issues and make one feel more whole and alive again.
